Based in Boulder, Colorado, Rudy Miick is founder and President of Miick & Associates. In business since 1978, his work has focused on successful start-ups, and the performance improvement of businesses in the service industry nationwide. Miick & Associates is known for maximizing performance, profit, and team spirit within organizations during what is usually considered traumatic change.
Mr. Miick has balanced his entrepreneurial career with both experience and academic support. He has worked in the service industry since the age of 15 and was a partner in his first business at the age of 24. Rudy holds an MA in Administration and Human Resources from Antioch University and a post- graduate certificate in Organization and Systems Development from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. He was on the Board and faculty of the UCLA Extension Hospitality Management Program for 13 years. As the founder of the Durga Institute, Rudy is an executive coach and leadership guide whose work is very experiential, focusing on using various counter-intuitive sports (skiing, mountain bikes, climbing, sailing) as metaphor for effectiveness in organizations, and life.
Rudy is an award-winning author of The Leadership Cookbook, a bi-monthly column for both US Business Review and Food & Drink Magazine. He has also co-authored 4 books and numerous articles focused on management, leadership and the change process in the service industry. Mr. Miick is a nationally known speaker whose focus is on leadership, high performance and effective communication.
